Precision Soft Tissue Therapy
for the Injuries That Won't Resolve
Some injuries heal cleanly. Others leave behind scar tissue, fascial adhesions, and fibrotic buildup that accumulate in the tissue, restricting movement, perpetuating pain, and quietly undermining everything you try to do to get better.

These are the injuries that don't show up on imaging. The ones that respond temporarily to massage and return within days. The ones that have been present so long they feel like a permanent part of how your body works.
Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM) is designed precisely for these.
How It Works
IASTM uses specially designed stainless steel instruments to detect and treat soft tissue dysfunction with a level of precision that hands alone cannot achieve.

Once the restricted area is located, the instruments are used to apply targeted mechanical force to the tissue, stimulating a localized inflammatory response that signals the body to remodel the area. Old, disorganized scar tissue breaks down. New, healthy collagen is laid down in its place. The tissue that was once a source of chronic restriction becomes functional again.

This is not aggressive treatment. In skilled hands IASTM is precise and controlled, stimulating the body's own repair mechanisms rather than overriding them.

What IASTM Treats
-
Chronic tendinopathies — Achilles, patellar, rotator cuff
-
Post-surgical scar tissue and adhesions
-
IT band syndrome and lateral knee pain
-
Plantar fasciitis
-
Carpal tunnel and forearm restrictions
-
Cervical and lumbar fascial restrictions
-
C-section and abdominal scar tissue
-
Sports injuries with incomplete healing
-
Chronic pain patterns that haven't responded to other treatment
... and more
What to Expect
IASTM is performed as part of your integrated treatment session at HealWorks. Dr. Mina applies a therapeutic lubricant to the skin and uses the instruments in precise strokes over the affected area, varying pressure and direction based on what the tissue is communicating beneath the surface.

Most patients experience a mild to moderate sensation during treatment, a scraping feeling that is firm but not painful. Some notice immediate improvements in mobility and reduction in pain following their session. Full results develop over a series of treatments as the body's repair process continues between sessions.
