Neuro-Emotional Technique

Healing Lives Below the Surface
Pain is not always structural. Fatigue is not always physical. And the symptom that keeps returning despite every intervention is not always coming from where you think it is. When a stressful experience overwhelms the nervous system's capacity to process and release it, the charge of that experience can become locked in the body as a conditioned physiological pattern. Neuro-Emotional Technique (NET) is a mind-body technique that identifies these patterns and helps to releases them.

What is net?
NET was developed by Dr. Scott Walker, D.C., and is grounded in the established relationship between the nervous system, the meridian system, and the body's physiological stress response. It uses muscle response testing to identify stress patterns called Neuro Emotional Complexes, that are contributing to your current physical symptoms.

Once identified, the pattern is released through a precise intervention that interrupts the conditioned stress response at the neurological level. This allows the nervous system to process and release what it has been holding.

NET is not psychotherapy, psychiatry, or counseling. It is also not a substitute for psychotherapy or psychiatric care. NET addresses the physiological dimension of stress and its impact on the body.
What the Research Shows
NET is a clinically studied intervention with peer-reviewed research published in indexed medical journals exploring its effects on musculoskeletal pain, inflammation, and nervous system function.

A randomized, double-blinded, placebo-controlled trial published in the Journal of Integrative Medicine (Bablis, Pollard & Rosner, 2021 — PubMed PMID: 34924332) examined NET's effect on chronic low back pain patients across physical and biochemical markers simultaneously. The study measured objective inflammatory indicators including C-reactive protein, TNF-alpha, and interleukins, and found clinically and statistically significant reductions across all markers at one, three, and six months following treatment. It is the first chiropractic randomized controlled trial to assess all three dimensions of wellness concurrently in chronic low back pain sufferers.

For patients whose musculoskeletal pain has not fully resolved with structural care alone, this body of research points to a clinically relevant consideration: some pain is structurally expressed but neurologically and physiologically driven. Addressing both dimensions reflects an evidence-informed approach to comprehensive chiropractic care. NET is one tool within a comprehensive treatment plan.
